Swing 2 is an arcade game I made for the third GameCOG Competition, which won 3rd place and the first GameMold Choice Award ($20).

It's pretty similar to the standard SHMUP, with a twist - you can't shoot. Instead you have a ball which orbits around you, connected by a line of zappy yellow stuff which destroys the incoming enemies on contact.

There are 5 modes in the game:

  • Waves, where enemies come on from the sides of the screen in waves, with a boss every 5 waves (There are only 10 waves in total, though...)
  • Arcade, where a certain number of enemies come in according to your score.
  • Survival, where you have no ball and line of zappy yellow stuff, but must avoid the incoming enemies at all costs - three hits and you're gooooone.
  • Insanity, which is the same as Arcade, but much, much, much harder.
  • SHMUP, where once again you have no ball and line of zappy yellow stuff, but instead you can shoot at the enemies in a traditional SHMUP style
The game also features online highscores, so you can compete against other players.
Enjoy!

Fun fun and addicting! Like what Slammin Sam said, it takes a while to get used to. But after a while it began to get really fun!

Hah, thanks.

@Slammin Sam: That's what most people say, when I show it to them. Takes a while to get used to.

Edit: Yeah, a rating feature would be nice...

@orange08: Heh, yeah, it is pretty hard. I suppose I always kinda counted "Insanity" mode as a kind of hard mode, although it's a little bit harder than hard.

And thanks!

EGAD! Too hard for my tastes, but I can see that this has a lot of work put into it.

It deserves a 5/5 even though it doesen't have a difficulty option xD

Wow! Great game! XD

At first it was insanely hard, but then I started getting used to it. (the super fast highscores will tell you different )

Anyway, if GC had a rating feature, 4/5.

Good job! I can see why you won the GameMold choice award!
